About The Position

A car porter is an automotive professional who moves and parks cars on dealership lots . They may transport cars to designated locations, keep track of stock, clean cars and complete any other tasks necessary to ensure a clean and organized lot.

Responsibilities

  • Vehicle Movement: Porters are responsible for moving vehicles between the sales lot, service area, storage, and customer pick-up locations. This includes following instructions from sales and service staff, ensuring vehicles are parked neatly and efficiently, and maintaining a clear and safe parking lot.
  • Lot Maintenance: Maintaining a clean and organized vehicle lot is crucial. Porters ensure the lot is free of debris, vehicles are properly displayed, and the overall appearance of the lot is presentable.
  • Customer Assistance: Porters assist with customer needs related to vehicles, such as bringing vehicles for test drives or delivering vehicles after service or purchase.
  • Basic Vehicle Upkeep: This includes tasks like washing and vacuuming vehicles, checking fluid levels, and ensuring vehicles are ready for customer delivery.
  • Following Instructions: Porters must be able to follow directions from various dealership staff, including sales managers, service advisors, and other employees.
  • Communication: Clear communication is vital for coordinating vehicle movement and assisting customers and staff.
  • Safety: Porters are expected to adhere to safety procedures when moving vehicles and operating equipment.
