About The Position

As a Porter at RWB Thrift, you are the air-traffic controller of the backroom, anticipating the needs of the production support staff ahead of time, ensuring supplies are available and in the correct place. You play a vital role in maintaining a safe work environment by prioritizing cleanliness, organization, and flow of the production floor. You are aware of the walkways and removing hazards for the production floor team. Your attention to detail and fast-paced work execution contribute to a positive working experience for our production employees and help streamline overall production. The role includes tasks such as Trailer Loader/Unloader, responsible for safely and efficiently loading and unloading items like furniture, clothing, and household goods, sorting, organizing, documenting arrivals, and moving merchandise to designated areas while adhering to safety protocols. Another aspect is the Trash Compactor Operator, who manages waste efficiently, operates and maintains the compactor, and ensures proper disposal and compaction of materials. Lastly, the Organizer oversees supply management in the backroom, handling the receiving, organizing, and replenishing of items like hangers, sensors, racks, carts, and bins to ensure timely availability on the production floor.

• Physical Strength: Must have the ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 70 lbs, frequently exert up to 25 lbs. of force, and constantly apply negligible force when handling objects
• Endurance: Able to stand for extended periods of time
• Manual Dexterity: Proficient in performing repetitive motions such as extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction and working primarily with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm
• Fine Motor Skills: Skilled in tasks involving seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands
• Balance and Agility: Capable of maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces, as well as maintaining balance when performing agile tasks
• Visual Acuity: Possesses clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more
• Fundamental understanding of written and spoken English for comprehending instructions, as well as the ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English (if interactions with English speakers are necessary)

Responsibilities

• Transport items between departments and assist with supply movement as needed
• Maintain inventory of supplies and notify management when supplies need replenishment
• Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe and clean environment for customers and staff
• Provide excellent customer service by anticipating the needs of the production staff so they can accelerate their workflow
