The Porter is responsible for following routine cleaning and maintenance procedures to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness and efficiency of building operations and grounds.

Requirements

• Knowledge of custodial methods, materials, supplies and equipment helpful.
• Knowledge of various custodial equipment and machinery as well as knowledge of janitorial chemicals and their proper application and safe use.
• Knowledge of proper methods for cleaning floors, carpets, walls, windows and other areas.
• Must be able to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance and safety procedures.
• Must be able to manage and embrace change.
• Education: Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: 9-12 months previous hands-on experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Effectively maintains building and grounds in clean and orderly conditions.
• Maintains cleaning schedule that includes daily general office and cafeteria cleaning.
• Keeps building and grounds including sidewalks and parking lots in clean and orderly manner.
• Assists in maintaining inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and requests additional supplies as needed.
• Sweeps and vacuums flooring throughout the office and washes windows according to daily schedule of tasks.
• Performs preventative maintenance to ensure the comfort, health and safety of staff.
• Makes minor, non-technical repairs to equipment and fixtures as needed and immediately reports major repairs to supervisor.
• Moves furniture and equipment and sets up equipment and conference rooms for special events, meetings, lectures and other events.
