Based on performance and business needs, there is potential for the role to transition into a regular Hale employee position. POSITION SUMMARY The Portables & Foam Assembler builds, assembles, and tests portable and foam products using established procedures, drawings, and mechanical practices. The role involves troubleshooting, equipment maintenance, inventory support, and maintaining a safe, clean work area, with outdoor testing required.

Requirements

  • Ability to read tape measure in both standard and metric scales.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to document individual work orders.
  • Ability to speak effectively to co-workers, supervisor, and other departments to clarify work orders and blueprints.
  • Ability to work in a team setting.
  • At least 6 months of experience of light industrial or mechanical assembly.
  • At least 6 months of experience using a variety of hand, air, hydraulic, and testing tooling and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic assembly, fitting and wiring as necessary to build a wide range of sub-assemblies and finished product.
  • Build to detailed procedures, cross sections or from general instructions and acceptable mechanical practices.
  • Able to repair and troubleshoot when required.
  • Report supply needs in a timely manner assuring required supply levels are maintained.
  • Report any safety and maintenance needs to supervisor.
  • Perform functional testing on portables and foam products.
  • Perform routine maintenance on assembly and test equipment.
  • Capable of using sound mechanical judgment to independently install components with limited instruction.
  • Use of a variety of hand, air, hydraulic, and testing tooling and equipment.
  • Able to read and understand torque values and procedures.
  • Able to read and interpret Bill of Materials and drawings.
  • Store and place in proper locations all items required to assure the assembly area is free of accumulated clutter, clean, and is in orderly condition.
  • Perform annual inventory.
  • Ability to work outside when testing units.
  • All other duties as assigned.
