About The Position

The Port Manager C position at the Port of New Orleans involves comprehensive management of port projects, programs, and properties within a port district. The role requires independent oversight of maritime industrial property management, ensuring compliance with contracts, and serving as a liaison between the Port and various stakeholders. The incumbent will also be responsible for administrative tasks, including revenue projections and coordination of permit requests, while contributing to the overall efficiency and competitiveness of the Port.

Requirements

• A baccalaureate degree plus three years of professional level experience in port operations, international trade, or maritime industry operations.
• Six years of full-time work experience in any field may substitute for the required baccalaureate degree.
• A master's degree in business administration or public administration will substitute for one year of the required experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage maritime industrial property, ensuring compliance with contracts and agreements.
• Serve as a liaison between the Port and Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) and United States Coast Guard (USCG).
• Monitor wharf load limits and perform overload checks in conjunction with the engineering department.
• Assist in the review and update of the Tariff with real estate and operations departments.
• Conduct routine inspections of terminal and industrial properties to confirm proper utilization and catalog damage.
• Identify and resolve problems at leased facilities, including lease enforcement issues and customer complaints.
• Prepare lease documents and coordinate with the Legal Department for execution.
• Track lease action dates for inspections, renewals, and rent increases.
• Maintain records, prepare reports, and analyze data as needed.
• Assist in sending notices for lease or permit renewals and insurance expirations.
