The Intern / Co-op term is from June to August, 2026. Full time requirement (40 hours per week). Purpose: The Population Analytics & Insights team, a part of Data Science and Digital Health at Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine, is recruiting for a 3-month internship program to support the scientific activities in neuroscience projects. The primary location for this position is Spring House, PA, USA. Our team develops innovative solutions using a variety of data sources across multiple different disease areas. We are looking for a highly motivated and self-driven postdoctoral researcher who will work on analyzing large-scale Omics data to strengthen our research capacity in disentangling the molecular drivers of neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders aimed at pushing the boundaries of AI-powered data-driven drug discovery using cutting-edge computational and algorithmic tools.

Requirements

  • Completion of Undergraduate Freshman year at an accredited University is required.
  • Enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a PhD degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, statistical genetics, biostatistics, computer science or related fields
  • Be in your second year or above in school with a graduation date after August 2026
  • GPA of 2.8 or above
  • Proficient in programming languages such as R/Python, bash, SQL, etc. and familiarity with high performance computing platforms.
  • Experience with multi-omics data integration, especially network analysis.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, and ability to effectively communicate technical findings with stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Permanently authorized to work in the U.S., must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future.
  • Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually requires future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience/knowledge of neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative diseases is a plus.
  • Experience of working with large-scale genetics data e.g. SNP array, WES/WGS and multi-omics data e.g., proteomics, transcriptomics etc

Responsibilities

  • This internship program is designed to support novel target identification efforts for neuropsychiatric disorders.
  • This program involves ingesting relevant multi-omics data, data harmonization, performing novel target identification using integrative approaches, prioritizing nominated targets, and conduct downstream analysis.
  • The intern will work closely with a team of scientists in disease genetics, computational genomics, AI and machine learning, and neuroscience therapeutic area to design and implement computational pipelines, analyze and interpret the results, and communicate the findings through internal presentations.
