About The Position

Under the Direction of the Recreation Director, the Pool Supervisor oversees the performance of the Lifeguards and the Pool Attendants, communicates organizational needs, provides guidance, support and coordination of daily operation and activities Lakeside Pool. Activities include, but are not limited to, class and private swimming lessons, staff scheduling, and special events. The supervisor is responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of the pool facilities and grounds. This position is the liaison between seasonal pool staff and the Director of Recreation.

Requirements

  • Must have current Lifeguard, First Aid and CPR certificate
  • Lifeguard instructor or willing to obtain
  • Knowledge and experience in staff supervision
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office software
  • Strong ability to motivate and lead staff and students
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication and customer service skills

Nice To Haves

  • Pool management operation preferred.
  • Swim Instructor or coaching experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support the mission of Lakeside Chautauqua and a culture of belonging at the Grindley Aquatics and Wellness Campus
  • Supervise all department staff and coordinates staff schedules to support open swim hours, programs, lessons, and events.
  • Oversee daily Grindley Aquatics and Wellness Campus operations, programs, special events, including lessons and special groups programming
  • Assist Program Coordinator with programs, as needed.
  • Perform required chemical checks and collaborate with CPO to correct imbalances
  • Coordinate a minimum of 4 hours every 30 days of documented safety training and rescue drills for all lifeguard staff, customer service scenarios, tracks lifeguards 300-yard weekly swim, and maintains all lifeguard standards
  • Attend Supervisor meetings weekly with Director of Recreation.
  • Coordinate and ensure that all scheduling of swim lessons, log rolling, water aerobics, other pool programs are with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Grindley Aquatics and Wellness Campus staff to maintain accurate participant information for all classes and programs.
  • Provides excellent customer service to ensure high quality experience, encourage repeat visitors and community participation in programs and events
  • Organize and supervise daily/regular cleaning and maintenance of entire pool area including restrooms, deck and surrounding grounds
  • Effectively carry out Emergency Action Plan (EAP) and skillfully respond to all first aid situations
  • Review and sign off on all incident reports and submit them to the Director of Recreation and HR within the same day
  • Communicate and coordinate all weather and emergency related closures of the pool and Drackett with the Director of Recreation and Safety Services, if needed.
  • Ensure that all certifications for Grindley Aquatics and Wellness Campus, Health Department and staff, are current and on file in the main office
  • Oversee that all Lakeside Chautauqua, Departmental, and Facilities rules and regulations are adhered to; Interact with facility and bathers to ensure safe utilization and adherence to policies and procedures
  • Maintain required signage stating safety rules, facility hours and regulations
  • Maintain an inventory of all programming and safety equipment and first aid supplies
  • Maintain staff rotations and break periods and provides additional lifeguard surveillance as needed
  • Conduct mid- and end of season employee evaluations with the Director of Recreation
  • Ensure a safe facility and atmosphere for all guests and staff of the pool and wellness campus
  • Work to ensure all facilities and equipment are clean, organized and in good working conditions. Communicate immediately any facility maintenance, equipment needs or work orders
  • Ensure customer relations and satisfaction are of highest priority and work to resolve all related issues tactfully, effectively, in a timely manner.
  • Complete and maintain accurate participant information for all programs. Coordinates and ensures that all scheduling of lessons, programs, events, etc. is done accurately and efficiently
  • File accurate financial records of all fees collected – if applicable
  • Manage cash drawers and reconcile daily and follows Lakeside daily deposit procedure.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance in coordinating opening and closing tasks each season
  • Communicates immediately any facility maintenance or equipment needs or work orders
  • Update and manage “Downtime Duties” checklist
  • Other duties as assigned by Director of Recreation

Benefits

  • Employees are eligible for a season pass provided they work a minimum of 24 hours per week during the season; employees receiving Lakeside‑provided housing are required to work a minimum of 32 hours per week. Season passes are for employment use only and must be returned on the employee’s last day of employment.
