About The Position

Pool health and safety work in a lead capacity. Work involves ensuring the safety, cleanliness and security of a swimming pool and its grounds. Pool Manager supervises staff in the pool operation during the aquatics season and must be available to work throughout the summer swimming season, as set forth by the township. Work is performed under the immediate and close supervision of the Bureau Chief of Recreation or his/her designate.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or possession of a GED.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age at time of application.
  • Ability to obtain Red Cross certification in CPR and First Aid, if required.
  • Knowledge of rules and regulations pertaining to pool use and the ability to enforce pool rules and regulations, including the expulsion, as needed, of patrons who display a willful disobedience of such rules and regulations.
  • Ability to perform a broad range of supervisory responsibilities over others.
  • Ability to work independently within the established policies and procedures set forth by the Recreation Bureau Chief or his/her designate.
  • Demonstration of effective verbal and listening communication skills in the English language in a one-on-one or group environment.
  • Ability to communicate orally and verbally
  • Ability to maintain and submit accurate financial and pool maintenance records.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with staff and to positively interact with the public.
  • Ability to act quickly and calmly in emergencies.
  • Ability to produce written documents, as needed, in the English language using proper sentence construction, punctuation and grammar.
  • Ability to demonstrate use in equipment, such as pool vacuums, cash register, computer, camera, pool mechanical systems, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and supervise staff for life guarding and teaching lessons.
  • Schedule pool staff to maintain a clean pool and surrounding areas and supervise all cleaning duties.
  • Prepare, supervise and verify time sheets for all employees/hours worked.
  • Prevent accidents through enforcement of policies, rules and regulations governing the conduct of patrons using the pool and surrounding area.
  • Oversee and conduct daily safety checks of pool equipment and surrounding area and report problems to the appropriate person(s).
  • Make decisions to close the pool when deemed necessary due to inclement weather or extenuating circumstances, pursuant to guidelines set forth by his/her supervisor.
  • Accountable for the collection, recording and security of daily revenues.
  • Accountable for daily (or as needed) reports and documentation of pool chemistry.
  • Handles patrons' concerns, resolves minor disputes and ensures adequate staffing at all times.
  • Works closely with township staff in developing, promoting and supervising of special events at the pool.
  • Uses camera to take photographs and collects revenue when issuing swimming pool passes, as required.
  • Any and all other job duties as assigned.
