About The Position

Parker seeks an enthusiastic, dedicated and passionate individual to be responsible for the safety of pool patrons and general maintenance of the facility.

Requirements

  • Certified Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate, or equivalent;
  • American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer, or equivalent;
  • American Red Cross Standard First Aid, or equivalent;
  • Knowledge of pool safety rules.
  • Ability to appropriately identify hazards or hazardous situations and identify a patron's need for assistance immediately.
  • Ability to tactfully, but forcefully, provide instruction on water safety, facility rules and regulations, and enforce them.
  • Ability to conduct routine safety inspections of the facility and pool area to ensure they meet environmental health standards.
  • Knowledge of and ability to conduct pool chemical testing, document the results, and adjust chemical imbalances, as directed.
  • Ability to exercise control over a large group of people.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all pool lifeguard responsibilities as assigned by Lead Lifeguard and/or Aquatics Director (e.g., supervising patrons and their activities, applying first aid, enforcing facility rules, reporting safety hazards to supervisor, performing water rescues as necessary, etc.).
  • Observes conditions of area assigned to ensure a safe environment, removing hazardous materials when necessary.
  • Activates facility EAP and performs rescue, promptly renders CPR or emergency first aid.
  • Conducts and documents pool chemical and temperature testing results; notifies the Lead Lifeguard and/or Aquatics Director of chemical imbalances.
  • Checks identification cards for authorized patrons.
  • Performs cleaning duties (e.g., basic janitorial services, vacuuming, skimming, etc.) and routine facility maintenance as assigned by Lead Lifeguard and/or Aquatics Director.
  • Inspects stands, starting platforms, safety gear, etc. to ensure they are within the condition required by environmental health standards. Informs supervisor of deficiencies.
  • Uses and maintains care of emergency equipment (e.g., specialized kits and bags, backboards, suction devices, splints, stretchers, monitoring equipment, etc.).
  • Prepares accident/incident reports after emergency situations. Notifies Aquatics Director of all emergencies immediately.
  • Works with hazardous materials (e.g., cleaning agents, pool chemicals, etc.).
