About The Position

The Special Facilities - Pool Assistant Manager is a seasonal position. We offer competitive compensation, and PTO for seasonal employees. Job Purpose: Under the direction of the Aquatic Program Supervisor, the Pool Assistant Manager (PAM) is responsible for overseeing and managing the comprehensive operation of two aquatic facilities and all related programs. This includes staff management of aquatic leadership, lifeguards, cashiers, and aquatic attendants. The PAM ensures that both Rehm Pool and the Ridgeland Common Recreation Complex present a safe, inviting, clean, and customer-focused environment. They are expected to manage and execute emergency response procedures.

Requirements

  • Candidates must be at least 18 years of age by June 1st of the summer they are working.
  • High School Diploma or GED required. Some college preferred.
  • Valid IL Driver's License
  • E&A Lifeguard license
  • Customer Service Focused
  • Ability to supervise, direct, and manage a large staff

  • Establishes the highest standards of ethical conduct
  • Certification in Advanced Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid, and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) within 1 month of employment and keep certification current. The District provides this training.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the planning for and leading of lifeguard pre-season and in-service training.
  • Pay close attention to detail, correct problems, redirect staff focus, and ensure customers are receiving the best possible customer service.
  • Assist in the management of the day-to-day operations of the pools to ensure an efficient and effective pool operation.
  • Mentor and guide staff to work to their full potential.
  • Handle staff discipline properly and report to full-time staff members.
  • Have a basic understanding of filter room operation to ensure that proper filtration and water treatment are occurring. Be able to notify needed staff or troubleshoot as needed.
  • Ensure any incident at the facilities is properly responded to by staff. Assist in addressing customer concerns, rectifying safety issues, or responding to maintenance issues.
  • Ensure facility cleanliness is at the forefront for all staff. Assign cleaning responsibilities as necessary and ensure that a cleaning plan is in place for facility closings or transitions.
  • Ensure that aquatic staff are adhering to all safety requirements and policies to make the pools safe for patrons.
  • Ensure that all paperwork is being filled out correctly and completely, including cash handling, concessions, aquatics, and operations documents.
  • Assist in the hiring, training, and scheduling of all aquatic staff.
  • Act as a teacher, coach, and mentor to all staff throughout the season to increase productivity, quality, and efficiency
  • Manage daily facility openings and closings based on schedules or weather conditions.
  • Develop staff management plans to effectively use Park District resources. Send staff home when not needed due to low attendance.
  • Ensure a strong level of communication with all direct reports, co-workers, supervisor, and other aquatics staff.
  • Ensure that camp management is being executed by support staff, and address safety concerns as needed.
  • Ensure that all regular safety inspections, equipment inspections, filter room, and facility inspections are completed in a timely fashion by the appropriate staff.
  • Maintain a complete understanding of Park District emergency action plans and act as a leader in the execution of the plan when required. Assist with emergency procedures and building evacuation.
  • Lead Ellis & Associates operational audits under the direction of the Aquatic Program Supervisor.
  • Assume the role of an Aquatic Facility Coordinator or other staff member as needed in the event of low staffing levels.
  • Transport materials and supplies between sites as needed.
  • Ensure that all cash is handled appropriately according to district standards
  • Assist with special events
  • Assist with facility set-up and take-down
