About The Position

Basic Functions: The Counter Server is the foundation of the café. The Counter Server is responsible for honoring each customer by providing excellent customer service. They are responsible for educating customers about our premium coffees, teas, and food. They display a positive attitude at all times to ensure the return of our customers business.

Responsibilities

  • Greets all customers with a friendly smile.
  • Honors customers by providing quick, friendly, and personal service.
  • Initiates dialogue and develops rapport with customers by learning their names, favorite drinks and food items.
  • Generates customer satisfaction; responds appropriately to customer concerns.
  • Communicates customer complaints/concerns to manager on duty.
  • Accurately processes transactions through the POS.
  • Answers the café telephone in a friendly manner using a professional greeting.
  • Sells, prepares, and serves baked goods and all miscellaneous food items to customers.
  • Equipment use includes but not limited to use of a conventional oven, steam table, Panini press, blenders, toasters, soup wells, espresso machine, dish machine and other cooking utensils.
  • Maintains the highest level of standards for all product preparation.
  • Adheres to all Company beverage recipes and measurements.
  • Produces superior product presentation.
  • Educates customers on products and services.
  • Follows health, safety and sanitation guidelines for all products.
  • Maintains continuous communication with other staff functions (i.e. bar, register etc.) during peak business times.
  • Contributes to a positive work environment.
  • Assists in the opening and/or closing of the café. A checklist will be provided.
  • Makes effort to improve job skills, knowledge and education.
  • Label all food products.
  • Initiates suggestive selling and sampling of products.
  • Follows all cash management policies and procedures to ensure accountability of Company funds.
  • Grinds fresh coffee beans and brews coffee as needed throughout the shift.
  • Makes all specialty coffee drinks in accordance to specified recipes.
  • Sweep, mop, wipe down and clean all counters, tables, chairs, floors, windows and equipment within the café.
  • Responsible for trash and garbage removal to designated area.
  • Retrieve stock and replenish all grab and go items from storage and kitchen including all sundries.
  • Requisition and order all dry goods for the grab and go.
  • Neatly stock and organize all dry good products.
  • Wipe down all display cases.
  • Attend and participate in all pre-shift meetings
  • Adhere to all policies in the employee manual.
