Polysomnography Technologist RRT
About The Position
This RRT position is 36 hours a week- 3 12 hour shifts 6pm to 6:30 am in sleep lab- some holidays and every third weekend will be required. The Polysomnography Technologist-RRT carries out all technical duties for the Sleep Center under the supervision of the medical director or designee to provide comprehensive evaluation of sleep disorders. This may involve polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services, research, or patient care and education. The Polysomnographic Technologist effectively troubleshoots difficult technical problems and demonstrates the ability to use critical thinking skills for problem solving. In addition to demonstrating clinical leadership, the Polysomnographic Technologist serves as a resource and consultant to staff and participates in endeavors to increase polysomnography knowledge. Uses respiratory therapy knowledge to provide specialized patient care and provides support to other staff in procedures necessary for these patients.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree Required
- At least one (1) year experience Required
- Respiratory Therapist (Pennsylvania) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - upon hire - Required or
- Osteopathic Respiratory Therapist - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - upon hire - Required or
- Respiratory Therapist License (New Jersey) - New Jersey State Licensing Board - upon hire - Required and
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - issued through on organization that requires a hands-on instructor lead psychomotor skills verification (ex. American Heart Association or Red Cross). - upon hire - Required
Nice To Haves
- At least two (2) years Respiratory Therapy experience Preferred
- Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) - Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists - - Preferred or
- Registered Respiratory Therapist Sleep Disorder Specialist (RRT-SDS) - National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) - - Preferred or
- Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist (EEG) - American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists - - Preferred
Responsibilities
- Practice: Provides expert care using intuitive, reasoning and experience.
- Prepares and calibrates equipment required for testing to determine proper functioning and makes adjustments, if necessary, including applying electrodes and sensors according to accepted published standards, and performing appropriate physiologic calibrations (when age and cognitive function appropriate) ensuring proper signals and making adjustments, if necessary.
- Documents routine observations, changes in procedure and significant events in order to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results.
- Professionalism/Leadership: Establishes professional practice standards and process improvement projects.
- Research: Incorporates research into clinical practice and participates in scientific inquiry.
- Learning Orientation: Acts as a consultant to enhance professional development.
- Examines successes and failures to improve performance.

- Completes ten Continuing Education Credits (10) as approved by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) per calendar year.
