The role of the Polysomnographic Technologist - Non-Registered reports to the Sleep Lab Manager. This position, under supervision of a registered Polysomnographic Technologist, is responsible for providing a comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders including in center and home sleep apnea testing, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, comprehensive patient care and direct patient education.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED, required. Current enrollment in an accredited educational program leading to a certificate or associate degree with an emphasis in sleep technology or completion of the A-step educational modules administered through the AASM.
  • BLS, required.
  • Nationally certified and certification board Registered Sleep Technologist (RST), Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT), Sleep Disorders Specialist (SDS) credential, Certified Polysomnographic Technician (CPSGT) credential, required within 3 years.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a sleep lab, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Calibrate and prepare equipment to ensure proper functioning
  • Conduct patient introduction and orientation to the clinic including; patient evaluation, education and documentation
  • Perform patient hook-up according to AASM published standards
  • Monitor the patient during the procedure and intervene, as necessary
  • Review data and score the polysomnographic study after the data acquisition
  • Assist with initial training of new staff and help with on-going in-services and training
