About The Position

The Polysomnographic Technologist (Sleep Tech) position is a full-time role based in Lombard, Illinois, requiring 40 hours of work per week, specifically during overnight shifts from Sunday to Saturday, 7:30 PM to 6:00 AM. The role involves working at both Lombard and Lockport locations and requires every other weekend. The technologist will assist physicians and nurses in providing high-quality medical care, performing various patient care activities, and ensuring the proper functioning of equipment used in sleep studies.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of an accredited polysomnographic program leading to an associate's degree with emphasis on polysomnography.
  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists required OR Certified Polysomnographic Technician (CPSGT) upon hire with RPSGT obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • BLS certification required.
  • A minimum of 3 years experience as a Polysomnographic Technician preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work under the general supervision of the Sleep Center Supervisor and clinical direction of pulmonary physicians.
  • Provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders, including polysomnography and diagnostic services.
  • Gather and review patient information, including histories, medications, and procedure requests.
  • Explain procedures and orient patients to the sleep lab.
  • Prepare and calibrate equipment for testing and make necessary adjustments.
  • Perform routine positive airway pressure (PAP) mask fitting.
  • Follow procedural protocols for various sleep studies to ensure appropriate data collection.
  • Perform polysomnographic data acquisition and document routine observations.
  • Implement appropriate interventions and verify the integrity of collected data.
  • Assist with scoring sleep/wake stages and clinical events.
  • Generate accurate reports and comply with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Perform routine equipment care and maintenance and conduct inventory evaluations.
  • Complete all other duties as assigned.
