About The Position

Polysomnographic Technician Location: Evans Army Community Hospital, Fort Carson, CO, 80913 Tentative Start Date: December 1, 2025 Work Schedule: Day shift: Monday–Friday, 8 Hrs Shift, 0700–1700 Night shift: 3x12 Hrs shifts (M–W or Th–Sat, 1900–0700) Qualifications: Education: Graduate of an accredited Polysomnography or Respiratory Therapy program. Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience within the last 3 years conducting sleep studies in a patient care setting. At least 1 year of experience in scoring sleep studies. License/Certification: Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) certification required; BLS certification required. Other Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen. Ability to recognize and provide age-specific care for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Familiarity with conditions such as PAP adherence, insomnia, restless leg syndrome (RLS), narcolepsy, anxiety/depression, and inadequate sleep time Documents Required for Submission: Updated Resume (With all gaps explained) Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) certification. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, calibrate, and operate sleep study equipment and monitoring systems.
  • Conduct overnight and daytime sleep studies, monitoring patients’ physiological data throughout the process.
  • Score sleep studies and prepare accurate, detailed reports for physician interpretation.
  • Educate patients and families on sleep disorders, CPAP/PAP equipment use, mask fittings, and adherence.
  • Document patient data, observations, and study outcomes in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Recognize and respond to emergency situations during studies, ensuring patient safety.
  • Assist physicians and sleep medicine specialists in diagnosing and treating sleep disorders.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot diagnostic equipment to ensure accuracy and safety.
  • Provide patient-centered care with sensitivity to cultural, psychological, and physical needs.
  • Support ongoing quality improvement and compliance with DoD, DHA, and AASM (American Academy of Sleep Medicine) standards.
