About The Position

The Sleep Technician II at Children's Hospital Colorado is responsible for performing polysomnographic diagnostic and therapeutic testing to assist clinicians in diagnosing and treating sleep disorders. This role involves direct patient interaction, equipment setup, monitoring physiological responses, and ensuring compliance with established standards. The technician plays a crucial role in patient education and follow-up care, contributing to the overall quality of pediatric sleep medicine.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience performing sleep disorders testing and therapeutic intervention is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) licensure is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in pediatric sleep disorder testing is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Educates and interacts with patients and their families during the course of care.
  • Interviews patients and families to obtain information needed to complete pre-test paperwork.
  • Sets up and calibrates monitoring equipment; troubleshoots and maintains equipment to ensure proper data recording.
  • Performs patient set-up and monitors physiological responses during routine testing.
  • Documents changes in patient condition and notifies physicians as necessary.
  • Initiates and titrates therapy based on physician's orders and established protocols.
  • Builds and maintains strong working relationships with multidisciplinary healthcare providers.
  • Ensures compliance with AASM standards and CHCO quality standards.
  • Provides follow-up to ensure home therapy is maintained.
  • Participates in clinical care and patient education in the outpatient clinic.
