About The Position

The Polysomnographic Technologist conducts comprehensive sleep studies to assist in the diagnosis and treatment for sleep disorders. This position assesses the clinical history of the patient, reviews the medical orders, and develops a plan for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, according to policy and procedure. The Technologist educates patients about procedures and possible testing interventions. This position also analyzes extensive data and reports information to the interpreting physician for diagnosis and/or treatment recommendations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED Required
  • Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association Required
  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Sleep Disorder Specialist (SDS) Preferred

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year Respiratory Care or related field (such as EEG)

Responsibilities

  • Select, assemble, and check all associated sleep lab equipment for proper function, operation, cleanliness and troubleshooting, in accordance with OSHA guidelines/infection control in order to provide a safe customer environment.
  • Perform maintenance/troubleshooting of sleep lab equipment.
  • Score sleep studies according to standard Rechtschaffen and Kales Sleep Scoring Manual.
  • Monitor patients throughout the sleep study, and document observations, collect data from various monitors and report information to the Physician.
  • CPAP titration and oxygen therapy when applicable.
