The Polysomnographic Technician of Franciscan performs diagnostic and therapeutic sleep tests. This position reviews patient clinical history and verifies physician orders for testing. This position educates patients and their families regarding procedures, monitors physiological response, and seeks guidance on therapeutic intervention. Polysomnographic Technician participates in data analysis to gain the expertise and skills to optimize performance. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT Calibrate, test, and operate polysomnography instrumentation, to ensure all equipment is working properly throughout the observation process. Perform polysomnographic (PSG) procedures on patients, monitors, and records key health indicators during sleep studies. Analyze procedure data, and prepare reports for physicians used to diagnose the patient's condition and develop a treatment strategy. Perform therapeutic interventions, including playing a role in patient care, comfort, and education. Ensure patients understand their treatment plans and respond to critical events when necessary. Observe and document patient characteristics that aid physicians in diagnosing and treating sleep disorders. Provide post-procedure care and develop discharge plans, identifying the post-discharge needs of the patient and target appropriate resources for follow-up care.
