In this role, the Polymer Matrix Composite (PMC) Raw Material Strategy Engineer will be responsible for identifying and qualifying new materials in the Polymer Matrix Composites space. The nature of the projects are such that your work will have broad impact to multiple part families across all engine lines. The PMC RMS team supports and interfaces with Material Application Engineers, GE and industry Supply Chain Partners, Material Manufacturers, Design Engineers, and a wide range of other groups both internal and external to GE. On this team you should expect to be challenged with projects that have potential to have high visibility and high impact to the business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Materials Science or Materials Engineering

Responsibilities

  • Execute long-term strategic initiatives for PMC materials.
  • Translate design requirements into material property targets, create/maintain material specifications and allowables.
  • Plan and execute materials programs (research, candidate evaluation, test plans, test execution, inspection and validation), including technical report outs to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Own program plans and use program management skills to keep the project teams accountable.
  • Partner with sourcing and suppliers on material development efforts, aligned to business priorities
  • Work closely with design, manufacturing, quality, sourcing, and program management to align materials decisions with program needs.
  • Ensure materials are compatible with current and future process needs.
