About The Position

This position supports the Polyline in fulfilling customer orders by moving materials, receiving, unloading poly material, operating saws, operating planers, and other hand finishing equipment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Trade School Diploma preferred.
  • Minimum two years of hands on experience with the set up and operation of Saws, Planer and other types of machines.
  • Experience with devices to lift heavy, irregular shaped objects (i.e. Cranes, Power Lifts, and methods of lifting.)
  • Basic shop mathematics, able to read basic level blue prints.
  • Able to read and interpret basic blue prints.
  • Able to correctly use and read measuring tools (i.e. Tape Measure and Vernier Calipers).
  • Ability to control the equipment to hold tolerances to .125 consistently.
  • Verbal and written communication skills to convey information within the organization.
  • Ability to solve practical manufacturing problems with little guidance.
  • Able to prioritize tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Verifying that materials meet the purchase order requirements at receiving.
  • In a safe manner, move material from the receiving area to their correct inventory location.
  • Fills out material issue cards.
  • Sets up and operates saws and planers or special purpose machines to prepare material for further operations.
  • Understands dimensions of 1/8" tolerances and what the sequence of operations should be.
  • Verifies conformance of materials to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
  • Uses tape measures and dial calipers to measure and document dimensions of the work piece.
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
  • Fork truck and crane use required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized and efficient work area.
  • Fully responsible for the quality of their work.
  • Comply with all company safety policies, procedures and practices.
  • Must be a team player and participate in efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Work overtime as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
