About The Position

The Pollutions Control Lead drives response to faults and issues which have a heightened risk of impacting the environment, by directing different teams and processes to an effective resolution. Southern Water has some of the largest stretches of bathing water in the South, therefore we have an obligation to minimise risk and ensure that pollution is kept to a minimum. You will be involved in high level incident coordinating and support resource for controllers. Whilst monitoring alarm mistakes, performance issues or deterioration, coordinate resources to resolve issues and establish contact with consistency and continuity. You will carry out overnight site compliance checks and report performance and arrange site visits. You will achieve your goals by being an individual who is data driven, inquisitive, and someone who will use these skills to effectively monitor site trends. As part of the Control Centre function, you will play a central role in coordinating environmental incident response, supporting controllers, and ensuring robust protection of our sites and surrounding ecosystems.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical and data‑driven approach
  • Experience or interest in environmental protection, utilities, or regulatory environments
  • Ability to thrive in a reactive and fast‑paced operational setting
  • Strong coordination, communication, and problem‑solving skills
  • You would need to commit to the following shift pattern: 3 days on, 7 days off 4 days on, 7 days off 3 nights on, 7 days off 4 nights on, 7 days off Includes standby shifts (details provided at interview) Occasional requirement to work from the Falmer office Fast‑paced, reactive working environment
