The Political Science Teaching Assistant position at BYU-Hawaii is designed to support faculty and instructional staff in various teaching-related duties. The role involves assisting in the development of teaching materials, preparing and administering examinations, and grading student submissions. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the educational experience of students by providing academic support and facilitating classroom activities. In this part-time position, you will be required to attend mandatory training and orientation sessions to ensure you are well-prepared for your responsibilities. Your primary duties will include assisting faculty members with classroom instruction, managing exams, maintaining records, and engaging in miscellaneous projects that contribute to the smooth operation of the department. You will also have the opportunity to tutor or mentor students, helping them to grasp complex political science concepts and succeed in their studies. Additionally, you will be responsible for obtaining necessary materials for classes, preparing presentations for lectures, distributing assignments, and grading papers. Proctoring examinations and recording grades will also be part of your duties, along with informing students of their final grades. You will assist professors in developing course plans and syllabi, create educational materials such as visual aids and supplementary notes, and manage communication with students through platforms like Canvas. Your role may also involve taking attendance, recording lectures, and completing other assigned tasks as needed.
