About The Position

BA Global Talent is partnered with the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), seeking a Political Risk Insurance Projects Director to perform on-site in Washington, DC. In this high-impact role, you will join the Office of Energy (OE) to mobilize private capital for solving critical global challenges and advancing U.S. foreign policy. We are looking for a PRI Projects Director to manage the DFC's most complex, sensitive, and precedent-setting insurance projects. Reporting to the Managing Director of Political Risk Insurance, you will act with significant independence to provide critical support in business development, cross-marketing initiatives, and the negotiation of intricate legal documents. Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Foreign National capable of obtaining and maintaining a Public Trust or higher-level clearance.
  • Minimum of a Master’s degree in International Business, Finance, Economics, Political Science, International Relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years within the last decade at a political risk insurance firm, commercial bank, consulting firm, investment bank, international financial institution, multilateral organization, or international project development company.
  • Exceptional English speaking and writing skills, with the ability to produce succinct, high-level technical reports.
  • Proven track record in the full origination cycle of international political risk insurance contracts.
  • Expertise in analyzing political, economic, or credit risks in emerging markets.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify host-country risks and determine exclusions/coverage.
  • Strong networking skills to identify and secure new business opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Underwriting & Risk Analysis: Evaluate complex investment projects to design political risk insurance coverage; analyze country-specific political climates, investment laws, and foreign exchange practices.
  • Negotiation & Structuring: Represent the DFC at high-level negotiations with private investors and foreign government officials to establish terms for insurability and pricing.
  • Business Development: Support the Deputy VP in expanding the business pipeline by cultivating relationships with corporate, multilateral, and bilateral representatives.
  • Compliance & Policy: Ensure projects align with U.S. foreign policy, environmental implications, and economic development goals; determine eligibility and suggest project reshaping where necessary.
  • Documentation: Prepare staff memoranda for the Board of Directors and oversee the final preparation of insurance contracts in coordination with the Office of General Counsel.
  • Field Research: Conduct overseas due diligence travel to assess political situations and coordinate with local U.S. Embassy staff on country-specific issues.
