About The Position

WeVote is a nonpartisan get-out-the-vote nonprofit startup and a celebrated Fast Forward nonprofit technology grantee. It is a movement of over 180 passionate volunteers who are building open-source mobile technologies to mobilize millions of voters on Election Day. WeVote aims to provide a complete voting experience in 8 minutes through its app, "WeVote Ballot Guide." It is a 100% volunteer and remote organization. The Summer 2026 Intern Cohort is part of a program with a strong history of over 100 interns in the past four years. Interns are organized into 4 small teams, led by experienced professionals connected to academia and WeVote's mission. Interns will learn about candidates, politicians, and endorsers, and will have opportunities to build professional skills and grow personally for future success.

Requirements

Interest in civic engagement, elections, or U.S. politics
Detail-oriented, inquisitive, and proactive learner
Willingness to collaborate remotely with a diverse volunteer team
Commitment of 20 hours/week for 10-12 weeks during summer (incl. 1 hour in M–F, 8am–5pm PT)
Alignment with WeVote’s nonpartisan mission & values (shared in process)
Access to device/internet; we’re open to discussing access needs
Be located in the US during the academic term

Responsibilities

Research and update political candidate information for several U.S. states (you get to choose regions you want to learn about from the whole country)
Track candidate declarations and ballot measures
Collect voter guides and endorsements from a range of organizations
Manage and input data into our open-source platforms
Spot-check political data nationwide and research reported issues
Support marketing with relevant political data insights
