About The Position

WALCO Tool & Engineering is looking for a Polisher and Deburrer for our CNC Machine Shop in Romeoville, IL. Your role as a Polisher/Deburrer: A Polisher/Deburrer helps smooth and finish sharp machined edges on parts made from stainless steel, common steel, aluminum, and plastics. In this role, you'll use hand and power tools to file and shape grooved or contoured surfaces so they match blueprint specifications. You'll also grind, sand, clean or polish parts to fix imperfections or prepare them for the next finishing steps. Throughout your work, you'll check each part to make sure it meets all required standards. Earn a competitive salary of $21-25/hr. based on experience.

Requirements

  • Hands on experience with precision work such as auto body work, carpentry, metal polishing, deburring, etc.
  • Strong sense of urgency with the ability to multitask effectively
  • Mechanical aptitude and quick learner
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and eagerness to develop new skills
  • Blueprint reading skills is a plus
  • Able to follow written instructions
  • Capable of physically lifting, pushing, pulling objects up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to work Monday - Friday 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Polish stainless steel weldments to blend welds and establish grain direction to food grade requirements utilizing hand held power tools, files and abrasive products.
  • Deburring sharp machined edges of stainless steel, common steel, aluminum, and plastic materials.
  • Stamping part numbers on parts.
  • Assembling machined components to customer's specifications.
  • Packaging parts to prevent damage in shipment.
  • Keep work area clean and organized.
