About The Position

The Policy Research Associate at Duke University's Robert J. Margolis, MD, Institute for Health Policy is responsible for managing complex research and policy projects focused on health care finance. This role requires significant subject matter expertise in private investment in health care, business practices, and health care financing. The associate will produce high-quality written work, engage with policymakers, and oversee project management to achieve research goals and objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., policy, public health, economics).
  • Minimum of six years of progressive experience in policy/research/data analysis.
  • Excellent research and writing skills.
  • Proven competence in leading research projects.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in policy research and/or business analysis.
  • Ability to synthesize content from a broad range of sources.
  • Knowledge of health policy, private health care investment, and health care financing.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's or higher advanced degree preferred.
  • Data analysis capabilities preferred.
  • Training or experience in business or finance, private investment, or data science is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day execution of complex research and policy projects.
  • Provide subject matter expertise related to private investment in health care and biomedical innovation.
  • Conduct background research and quantitative financial analyses to support project goals.
  • Draft written products including summary documents, blog posts, peer-reviewed publications, and policy briefs.
  • Engage effectively with policymakers and high-level external stakeholders.
  • Manage the agenda, content, and speakers for Institute events and convenings.
  • Outline and conceptualize the content and structure of project deliverables.
  • Mentor junior employees in management of work activities and development of content expertise.
  • Oversee design and implementation of project convening events such as workshops and seminars.

Benefits

  • Annual base salary range of USD 89,850 to USD 145,200.
  • Renewable engagements upon funding availability.
