The Policy & Legislative Affairs Intern will assist the Orange County Board of Supervisor's Office in various tasks related to the day-to-day operations of the office. This internship is designed for students and recent graduates who are interested in gaining experience in public policy and legislative affairs. The Board of Supervisors oversees the management of County government, functioning as both a legislative and executive body. Interns will have the opportunity to engage in meaningful work that supports the Board's mission and operations.

  • Assist staff in the day-to-day operations within a Board of Supervisor's office
  • Answer inquiries by phone and through written communications
  • Prepare letters, memos, certificates, resolutions, proclamations, or reports
  • Assist with research assignments and special projects
  • Analyze policy
  • Attend meetings or community events
  • Perform filing, faxing, photocopying, etc.
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university majoring in Political Science, Public Administration, Law, Public Affairs, Communications, Public Relations, Public Policy, History, Social Ecology or related fields
  • Recent graduates who have completed their degree in one of the above fields are eligible to apply
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to research information and prepare reports and other correspondence
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel
  • Reliable, outgoing, and able to work independently
  • Previous office experience preferred
  • Professional appearance and business attire required
