About The Position

The Policy Intern will support the organization’s policy research and advocacy initiatives, reporting directly to the Director of Policy. This role offers hands-on experience in public policy, legislative tracking, and advocacy at the state level, with some exposure to federal policy work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required (or in progress)
  • Strong writing, research, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Self-motivated with strong attention to detail
  • Commitment to advancing equity and supporting underserved communities
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel (including to Annapolis as needed)
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs if required

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on policy issues impacting financial security, savings access, and asset-building programs
  • Analyze policy options at state and federal levels
  • Draft issue briefs and policy summaries
  • Monitor legislation and prepare tracking reports
  • Assist with policy meetings, materials, and coordination
  • Support communications efforts (action alerts, website content, newsletters)
  • Represent the organization at coalition meetings when needed
  • Assist with events such as lobby days, town halls, and community engagement sessions
  • Take notes during internal and external meetings
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
