About The Position

The Policy and Procedure Writer position at Westlake Services, LLC is responsible for the development and documentation of the policies and procedures infrastructure for the company. This role emphasizes creating policies and procedures that align with the functional duties of employees and is a key member of the Westlake Compliance Team. The incumbent will survey department managers and stay updated on company initiatives to identify new and ongoing policy needs. The position involves researching and cataloging state and federal laws related to consumer finance issues, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and improving current policies and procedures through best practices. The successful candidate will demonstrate self-direction in work prioritization and good judgment within their responsibilities, performing all duties in accordance with Westlake policies and state and federal regulations.

Requirements

  • Computer literate and proficient in presentation software, word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Superior interpersonal skills and teamwork awareness.
  • Demonstrated understanding of learning & development principles.
  • Ability to handle multi-tasking of projects and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws applicable to collections, including Fair Debt Collections Practices Act, is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, design, document, and maintain operating policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements governing consumer finance.
  • Research and catalogue State and Federal laws pertaining to a wide spectrum of consumer finance issues and stay abreast of changing applicable laws.
  • Coordinate the development and production of communication and training materials relating to the management of processes and procedures.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Compliance & Training to maintain appropriate training and development reports and records, including effectiveness assessments.
  • Conduct periodic needs analyses for new or revised policies and procedures, and suggest appropriate solutions, including the design of training materials.
  • Establish and maintain close collaborative working relationships with all department managers and key business partners.
  • Gather information through research, SME interviews, source documents, and review of existing documentation.
  • Write various types of documentation, such as operational procedures, manuals, job aids, forms, and reference guides.
  • Manage regular reviews with SMEs to maintain the accuracy and completeness of documents.
