About The Position

The Policy Analyst is responsible for the preparation of new policy filings and the maintenance of existing programs to conform to Insurance Department standards and other insurance/non-insurance products as requested. The role involves reviewing new and proposed legislation for impact on the company and/or business unit, preparing Installation Packages for management review, and interacting with other departments regarding product needs.

Requirements

  • High School education, some college preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in the insurance industry.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to understand and interpret regulations defining products, filing requirements, and department objections.
  • Effective communication skills to diplomatically and persuasively communicate with insurance departments and other internal departments.
  • PC knowledge with Microsoft software.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of the Credit and Non-Credit optional products offered by OneMain.
  • Experience in compliance or related experience in dealing with specific P&C or Life and Health product lines.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the drafting of language for new insurance products in compliance with state laws and regulations and file new forms and rates for state approval.
  • Respond to insurance departments regarding filings, requiring oral and/or written communication to explain filings or ascertain state requirements for approval.
  • Draft installation packages and upon approval, release product for installation.
  • Interact with marketing, Actuarial, and other internal departments to discuss product needs and provide information on product availability and installation of approved products.
  • Review and take appropriate action in response to regulatory changes with guidance.
  • Modify and file revisions to existing programs to meet marketing needs while maintaining compliance with state laws and regulations.
  • Assist with the development of language for prototype forms to be used in filings.
  • Interact with Compliance departments to provide product information for internal and external exams.
  • Develop communication links with other insurers and organizations to exchange product and related information.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the product forms, parameters database, issuing Master Policies and the supporting Master Policies documents.
  • Handle special projects as assigned.
