About The Position

The State Corporation Commission's (SCC) Bureau of Insurance (BOI) is seeking a Policy Advisor to specialize in legislative and policy analysis for the regulation of the insurance industry in Virginia. The Policy Advisor will serve as the key resource for federal and state regulation and on compliance matters relating to the financial regulation of insurers, regulation of insurance agents, life and health insurance regulation, and property and casualty insurance regulation. The Policy Advisor will also serve as a liaison to insurance industry groups, consumer groups, National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) staff, legislative commissions, and other regulatory agencies on legislative and policy related matters. The candidate selected for this position will develop comprehensive insurance policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and legislative proposals. This role will involve conducting quantitative and qualitative policy analysis on an ad hoc basis.
