About The Position

The City of Ottawa Board of Fire and Police Commissioners is seeking applications to establish a Police Patrolman Register. This position involves working as a patrol officer with a starting salary of $75,190.00, offering various career advancement opportunities and a structured work schedule that includes 12-hour shifts and time off every other weekend.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Must be a United States citizen.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age or 20 years old with 2 years of law enforcement studies.
  • Must not have reached 35 years of age as of January 7, 2025.
  • Excellent physical health and good moral character are required.
  • Valid POWER card issued by Joliet Junior College at the time of employment offer.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in law enforcement or related fields.
  • Bilingual skills may be beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol assigned areas to maintain public safety and enforce laws.
  • Respond to emergency calls and incidents as required.
  • Conduct investigations and gather evidence at crime scenes.
  • Prepare reports and documentation related to incidents and arrests.
  • Engage with the community to foster positive relationships and trust.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development.
