About The Position
The Police Social Worker position is a full-time role within the Aurora Police Department's Crisis Intervention Unit (CIU). The primary purpose of this role is to assist in responding to mental health-related calls, providing crisis co-response, case management, and victim advocacy. The social worker will collaborate closely with police officers and other community service providers to ensure individuals in crisis receive the necessary support and resources, thereby preventing situations from escalating into criminal activities. This position requires a flexible schedule, including rotating weekends, and involves significant travel within the Aurora area.
