The Coon Rapids Police Reserve Unit consists of well-trained and dedicated volunteers who are focused on serving the needs of the community. Coon Rapids Police Reserve officers assist the Coon Rapids Police Department throughout the city in staffing and performing many non-sworn, non-enforcement functions.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age and a U.S. citizen.
• Possess a valid Minnesota driver's license with a good driving record.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalency certificate.
• Ability to walk, stand, run, lift and carry for extended periods of time if needed.
• Able and willing to work in all weather conditions.
• Ability to complete/pass criminal history and background check.
• Pass an oral examination by a review board.
• Complete a probationary period.
• Attend a minimum of 3 out of 4 quarterly meetings.

Responsibilities

• Participate in non-enforcement duties including but not limited to: 4th of July events, Anoka Ramsey Community College security, hockey security, park patrol, and Coon Rapids High School football games.
• Assist in emergencies and natural disasters in the community and around Minnesota.
• Volunteer a minimum of 100 hours per year at events in the community.

Benefits

• Paid $21.98 per hour.
• Opportunity to earn tuition reimbursement after being employed for 6 months in good standing and providing paid or unpaid service for a minimum of 250 hours per year.
• Qualify for internal hiring opportunities.
