About The Position
To join LMPD as a Police Recruit in the 64th Metro Academy Class (MAC 64), you must pass the Written Exam and Physical Agility Test by July 8, 2025 and the Oral Exam by July 16, 2025. The Academy Start Date is October 27, 2025. As a Police Recruit, you will attend classes in personnel procedures, police regulations, current laws, the criminal justice system, human behavior, and various other topics related to police work. You will work in various operational bureaus to provide additional manpower and gain familiarity with the functions of the Louisville Metro Police Department. Participation in practical training of firearm usage, driving, self-defense, arrest procedures, and use of police equipment is required. You will take tests to measure knowledge gained, evaluate performance, and determine progress made. Additionally, you will perform related work as assigned.
