About The Position

NOTICE OF ENTRANCE EXAMINATION TO ESTABLISH AN ELIGIBILITY LIST FOR THE POSITION OF POLICE OFFICER Eligibility list will become effective immediately following completion of existing list.

Requirements

  • Twenty-one (21) years of age (may test prior to 21st birthday but cannot be hired until age of 21 has been reached)
  • Must be a high school graduate, or possess a GED with twelve (12) hours of college in order to attend a basic police officer academy .
  • Must be a United States citizen at the time of application and comply with the Immigration and Nationality Act.
  • Texas Vehicle Operator License (or ability to obtain such)
  • Conform to height and weight standards
  • Eyesight 20/70 corrected to 20/20 with normal color vision
  • Ability to work various shifts, weekends and holidays
  • Physical ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; to walk, run, climb, crawl in pursuit of suspects; to drag and lift an average body weight; to work outdoors in inclement weather and extreme temperatures
  • Participate in and pass a written test, physical agility test, a background check, a psychological examination, a polygraph examination, interview, and medical examination (including drug and alcohol testing)
