This position is responsible professional law enforcement work in the protection of life and property through the enforcement of laws and ordinances for the City of Fremont. Work also involves responsibility for the protection of life and property, prevention of crime, apprehension of criminals, and the enforcement of laws and ordinances on an assigned shift. Work involves an element of personal danger, and officers must be able to act without direct supervision. An employee in this classification is expected to exercise independent judgement within the parameters of the departmental policies, procedures and regulations while meeting both routine and complex emergency situations. In accordance with established operating procedures, work assignments, and instructions are received in general terms from a superior officer who reviews work methods and results through reports, observations, discussions, and semi-annual performance evaluation. Supervision is received from an administrative superior.
