About The Position

CITY OF STAUNTON Police Officer-CERTIFIED ONLY Join a leading accredited law enforcement agency and make a di?erence in a thriving community. The City of Staunton Police Department is seeking DCJS certified candidates for the position of Police O?cer. This position is responsible for public safety, law enforcement, crime prevention, tra?c control and accident investigation. Position requires HS diploma/GED, excellent verbal and written communication skills, customer service and the ability to analyze situations and adopt an e?ective course of action through thoughtful decision making. Successful candidates will possess the desire to solve problems by developing collaborative relationships with members of the community. The hiring process can take approximately four to eight weeks and requires successful completion of employment application, background investigation, psychological evaluation and pre-employment physical. Individuals who have previously been disquali?ed due to the background investigation from a previous process are not eligible for consideration. NOTE: ONLY interested individuals who hold a current certi?cation as a Law Enforcement O?cer through the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services will be considered for this position . These individuals must submit a completed employment application with a copy of certi?cation(s) and will be required to successfully complete all other aspects of the hiring process.
