About The Position

The Senior Police Officer position at the Boise VA Medical Center involves performing a full range of police duties, including law enforcement, physical security operations, and crime prevention activities. Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen
• Subject to a background/suitability investigation
• Designated and/or random drug testing may be required
• May serve a probationary period
• Selective Service Registration required for males born after 12/31/1959
• Complete application package required (Resume, Transcripts, etc.)
• Participation in seasonal influenza vaccination program required
• Participation in COVID-19 vaccination program required
• At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-6 level in Federal service
• Valid, unrestricted State driver's license required
• Must be able to possess firearms under the Gun Control Act of 1968.

Responsibilities

• Protect civil rights of individuals on VA controlled property
• Prevent, detect, and investigate crimes
• Patrol assigned areas on foot or by motor vehicle
• Subdue persons causing disturbance or who threaten harm
• Follow rules/procedures concerning search and seizure
• Take charge of significant and catastrophic events
• Conduct investigations, apprehensions, and detentions
• Obtain search and arrest warrants
• Arrest violators
• Provide basic first aid and CPR prior to emergency medical personnel arrival
• Prepare reports of activities and events during shifts
• Perform traffic control
• Assist citizens in emergency situations
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
