The University of Missouri Police Department is seeking a dedicated and responsible Police Officer to join their team. This position is essential for maintaining the safety and security of the university community, which includes over 30,000 students and a large faculty and staff population. The Police Officer will be tasked with patrolling assigned areas using various modes of transportation, including motor vehicles, bicycles, utility carts, or on foot. The primary goal is to prevent, discover, and deter criminal activities while enforcing university rules, state statutes, and city ordinances. The officer will also provide personal and property security, as well as traffic law enforcement. In this role, the Police Officer will be expected to respond to emergency alarms and dispatched calls, which may involve a variety of services such as handling illnesses, accidents, disturbances, and other acts against persons or property. The officer will also assist in parking enforcement, perform traffic control duties, and issue warnings or citations for motor vehicle law violations. Conducting preliminary and follow-up investigations, collecting and preserving evidence, and preparing court cases are also key responsibilities of this position. The Police Officer will be required to maintain proficiency with all equipment and technology used in the role, and may serve in specialized positions such as Firearms Instructor or Field Training Officer. The position demands a high level of physical fitness, as officers must be able to engage in foot pursuits and effect forcible arrests. The officer will also be responsible for providing general assistance and information to community members and visitors, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment on campus.
