Police Officer- Sergeant : Role: The Police Sergeant is responsible for supervising sworn police officers. The Sergeant provides a safe campus environment for a diverse population of students through conventional and non-conventional law enforcement methods. The Sergeant acts as a liaison between patrol personnel and command staff while maintaining an active operational role. In addition, serves as second-in-command in the absence of the chief. The salary range of $29.08 to $43.63 per hour. Essential Functions & Responsibilities: 30% Directs, supervises, trains, and evaluates police department personnel in accordance with TCOLE regulations. Serves as the on call supervisor as assigned and prepares the monthly patrol schedule. Acts as the department’s firearms instructor. This position ensures compliance with Texas law, Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) requirements, Grayson College policies, and recognized best practices in campus policing. 25% Investigates suspicious persons, suspected criminal activity, and public nuisances. Collects evidence, identifies and interviews witnesses, and makes arrests when necessary. Initiates preliminary internal inquiries related to complaints or potential policy violations and documents findings. Serves as the department’s evidence technician, logging all items into the evidence room while ensuring the integrity and security of evidence. Responds to and manages critical incidents, including felonies, violent crimes, sexual assaults, Title IX-related matters, and Cleryreportable offenses. 15% Patrols college facilities and property by motor vehicle or on foot. Monitors sporting events, locks and unlocks doors, and escorts students and staff as needed. Responds to calls for assistance. Issues citations as needed for violations of law or campus rules. 10% Manages the daily staffing schedule of police officers and extra duty assignments for athletic events and the South Campus. 5% Provides training to students and staff on various aspects of campus safety. Collaborates with campus departments to support and facilitate workshops, camps, and other collegeu2011related activities. 5% Prepares required reports, reviews daily bodyu2011cam footage, approves officer reports, and ensures compliance with key Texas statutes and TCOLE rules. 5% Participates in campus committees as requested 5% Completes other duties as assigned.
