Performs a variety of law enforcement duties in the preservation of public peace and prevention of crimes, including protecting life and property, enforcing all laws and ordinances, investigating crimes and accidents, making arrests, providing credible testimony in various courts, conducting traffic surveys to determine problem areas, assisting in school and community functions, as well as, public relations activities, and other cases as assigned. EMPLOYMENT PROCESS Police Officer candidates who meet the minimum requirements will be further screened through our evaluation process, which considers related work experience, education, certifications and special training. Police Officer candidate finalists will then be evaluated based on personal interviews. In order to be eligible for employment with the Hoover Police Department a candidate must successfully complete the Physical Agilities/Abilities Test. Go to Forms on the left side of the page then scroll to bottom of the page to access the Physical Agility Ability Course. Candidates will be informed of the date, time and location of the Physical Agilities/Abilities Test at a later date and only after successful completion of an interview or interviews. Due to the high volume of applications received, not all applicants will be selected for interviews and all that do interview are not guaranteed to be selected to participate in the Physical Agilities/Abilities Test.
