About The Position

The City of Woodland Police Department is looking for lateral officer candidates who are currently employed as a California peace officer, have two years of experience and possess a California POST Basic Certificate or have formerly been employed as a California peace officer, possess a California POST Basic Certificate and have not had more than a three-year break in service as a California Peace Officer. Police Officer positions with the City of Woodland are filled from an eligibility list. Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Minimum education of United States high school graduation or passage of GED or other approved equivalency test.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Possess a POST Basic Certificate or higher.
  • Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Meet physical health, strength, stature, and agility requirements.
  • No felony convictions and good personal conduct.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in community engagement and outreach.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Work in various capacities and teams within the Patrol, Investigations, and Community Relations Bureaus.
  • Engage in community-oriented policing and intelligence-led policing strategies.
  • Participate in specialty units including K-9, Traffic/Motors, School Resource Officers, Gang Task Force, Detectives, and Homeless Outreach Street Team.
  • Fulfill collateral duties such as SWAT, Crisis Negotiations Team, Field Training Officer, Honor Guard, and Firearms Instructors.
