About The Position

The Police Officer (Dignitary Protection) position at the Supreme Court of the United States involves providing security and protection for the Supreme Court Justices, employees, and visitors. This role requires expertise in protective operations and law enforcement duties, ensuring the safety and integrity of the Supreme Court's mission. Officers will engage in various responsibilities, including courtroom security, dignitary protection, and maintaining order during events.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen, National, or owe allegiance to the United States.
• Must have at least one year of full duty service as a law enforcement officer after training.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and have an excellent driving record.
• Must maintain proficiency in the use of a firearm and have no misdemeanor domestic violence convictions.
• Must pass a medical exam, including rigorous fitness standards and a psychological exam.
• Must complete a Police Officer Selection Test (POST) with a score of 70% or higher on each section.
• Must have no felony convictions and not currently be involved in any pending criminal charges.
• Must be able to receive and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance.

Nice To Haves

• Prior dignitary protection experience is preferred but not required.
• Military service with honorable discharge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide protection for the Supreme Court Building and grounds, and persons and property therein.
• Deliver dignitary protection for the Supreme Court Justices, both domestically and internationally.
• Maintain suitable order and decorum within the Supreme Court Building and grounds, including policing demonstrations and large-scale events.
• Provide courtroom security and prepare various reports, including incident and arrest reports.
• Utilize expert knowledge of protective operations and conduct threat research and assessment support.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to build operational plans.
• Conduct additional responsibilities as assigned in support of the Dignitary Protection Unit.
