About The Position

What you'll do at DBH: Maintain the safety and security of (NBH) Northcoast Behavioral Healthcare Patrol grounds and building Assist with and conduct investigations Respond to emergencies and code assists Escort, protect, and assist visitors Conduct searches Apprehending, arresting, and processing criminal violators File affidavits, serve warrants, and subpoenas Appear in court and testify in criminal proceedings Perform police administrative duties This is an hourly position covered by the State of Ohio Unit 2 bargaining unit (union), with a pay range of #10 on the Unit 2 Pay Range Schedule. Normal working hours are will be determined. This position is located within our Northcoast Behavioral Healthcare, 1756 Sagamore Road, Northfield, Ohio. Unless required by any applicable union contract and/or requirements of the Ohio Revised Code, the selected candidate will begin at Step 1 of the pay range schedule listed above, with an opportunity for pay increase after six months of satisfactory performance and then a yearly raise thereafter. Additional Salary / Appointment Information: 3% pay increase July 1, 2026. Longevity supplement after 5 years of service.

Requirements

  • Possession of certificate having successfully completed approved basic peace officer training program or completion of 20 yrs. active duty as peace officer per Section 109.78(D) of Ohio revised code
  • Valid driver's license
  • Applicant must be able to successfully perform Ohio Peace Officer Basic Training Program (OPOTC) Fitness Testing Entry Standards for New Recruits
  • Official transcripts are required for all post-secondary education, coursework, or degrees listed on the application. Applicants must submit an official transcript before receiving a formal employment offer. Failure to provide transcripts within five (5) business days of the request will result in disqualification from further consideration. Transcripts printed from the institution's website will not be accepted. The Ohio Department of Behavioral Health reserves the right to evaluate the academic validity of the degree-granting institution.
