About The Position

Southeastern Louisiana University's Police Department invites applications for the position of Police Officer 1/2. This is a training series position that will allow applicants to be hired as a Police Officer 1 or Police Officer 2 based on qualifications. Requirements

  • Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Be able to be certified through the Southeastern Defensive Driving Course
  • Have a current Civil Service test score for 2100-PSE-Protective Services Exam for Law Enforcement (unless exempted by Civil Service rule or policy)
  • Police Officer 1: No experience required
  • Police Officer 2: One year of experience in law enforcement work
  • One year of law enforcement experience (Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience)
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age
  • Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license
  • Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification may be required
  • An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted
  • Any college hours or degree must be from a school accredited by one of the following regional accrediting bodies: the Middle States Commission on Higher Education; the New England Association of Schools and Colleges; the Higher Learning Commission; the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities; the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges
