About The Position

Southeastern Louisiana University's Police Department invites applications for the position of Police Officer 1/2. This is a training series position that will allow applicants to be hired as a Police Officer 1 or Police Officer 2 based on qualifications. Requirements

Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license
Be able to be certified through the Southeastern Defensive Driving Course
Have a current Civil Service test score for 2100-PSE-Protective Services Exam for Law Enforcement (unless exempted by Civil Service rule or policy)
Police Officer 1: No experience required
Police Officer 2: One year of experience in law enforcement work
One year of law enforcement experience (Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience)
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age
Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license
Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification may be required
An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted
Any college hours or degree must be from a school accredited by one of the following regional accrediting bodies: the Middle States Commission on Higher Education; the New England Association of Schools and Colleges; the Higher Learning Commission; the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities; the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges
