About The Position

Southeastern Louisiana University's Police Department invites applications for the position of Police Officer 1/2. This is a training series position that will allow applicants to be hired as a Police Officer 1 or Police Officer 2 based on qualifications. Police Officer 1: No experience required. Police Officer 2: One year of experience in law enforcement work. Current Salary Police Officer 1: $18.58/hr SER Current Salary Police Officer 2: $19.88/hr SER When applying, you should list all Education and Work Experience on this application. Requirements

  • One year of law enforcement experience.
  • Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license.
  • Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification may be required.
  • An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.
