About The Position

The Police Investigator (Non-Career) position at the Long Beach Police Department is a part-time, seasonal role designed for non-sworn, at-will employees. This position involves conducting various investigations within the department, including background checks and compiling investigative reports. Requirements

• Five (5) years of experience as a peace officer.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software programs, including Word and Excel.
• Valid California Driver's license is required and must be maintained throughout employment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct interviews of employers, co-workers, neighbors, law enforcement officials, military personnel, and family members.
• Manage a variety of investigations, including administrative or employment background checks.
• Research, assemble, analyze, and interpret information from various sources.
• Review local, state, and federal criminal databases.
• Compile and prepare thorough and objective investigative reports.
• Assist with telephonic inquiries and complaints as necessary.
• Compile statistics.
• Perform other duties as required.
