Under the general supervision of the Police Support Services Director, supports the research, technology, and computer programming functions of the Police Department.

  • Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, criminal justice, information technology, or any equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a computing operating systems environment.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Must pass Police Department background investigation.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and driving record acceptable to the University by the University's insurance carrier.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Prefer experience in a PC support environment, experience with relevant software, and criminal justice related statistics.
  • Prefer some programming experience.
  • Relevant computer software and criminal justice systems (including but not limited to MS Office 2007, Windows Server 2003 and 2008, Microsoft SQL, Pelco Surveillance equipment and software, Siemens access control/alarm equipment and software).
  • Statistical methods, records management systems, computer hardware and software operating systems (including Microsoft Office applications, Crystal Reports, Microsoft SQL, etc.), network principles and effective troubleshooting techniques.
  • Familiarization in law enforcement and police department operations.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Police Department officials, other employees and the public.
