About The Position
America's second oldest horse racing track, the Fair Grounds has been a New Orleans staple since 1852. We are a premiere entertainment venue presenting thoroughbred & exotic animal races, slots, video poker and simulcasting year-round. Located in New Orleans, Fair Grounds operates a slot-machine gaming facility and 13 off-track betting parlors throughout southeast Louisiana.JOB SUMMARY We are looking for a Police Detail Officer to provide security and maintain safety at Fair Grounds OTB parlor, or other special assignments. In this role, you'll be responsible for keeping the public safe, managing traffic, and responding to any incidents that may arise. The goal is to ensure that everything runs smoothly and securely while enforcing the law professionally and fairly.
Requirements
- Must be a certified law enforcement officer.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws.
- Good communication and people skills.
- Ability to stay calm and make decisions under pressure.
- Physically able to stand, walk, or be active for long periods.
- Must have a high school diploma.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in event security, traffic control, or special assignments is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Patrol assigned areas and monitor for safety concerns.
- Manage crowds as needed.
- Respond to emergencies, disturbances, or incidents on-site.
- Document activities, incidents, and any actions taken.
- Work closely with supervisors, other officers, and sometimes private clients to meet assignment needs.
- Assist the public and provide information when necessary.
- Follow all laws and department policies while on duty.
